Vacation rental cleaning fee calculator
Work from the real cost of one turnover, then see what the same fee means for short and longer stays.
Short answer
Add labor, laundry, supplies, travel and final inspection before setting a cleaning fee. This calculator shows the cost the host absorbs or recovers; it does not invent a local average or decide what guests will accept.
Price one turnover from your costs
No values leave this tab. Contingency is applied to the subtotal of labor and operating costs.

What belongs in the turnover cost
Labor is usually the largest line, but hosts often miss off-site laundry, starter supplies, travel, quality control and the occasional re-clean. Contingency is not extra profit; it is a visible allowance for variable work.
If an amenity, appliance or access instruction changes during turnover, update the digital guest guide and arrival message. Do not ask the cleaner to solve a guest-information problem through private notes.

Airbnb describes a standard cleaning fee and an optional lower short-stay fee for one- and two-night stays. Source reviewed September 4, 2026: Airbnb cleaning fee guidance. Verify the current setting in your listing before changing it.
Questions hosts ask before acting
How do I calculate a vacation rental cleaning fee?
Add labor, laundry, consumables, travel and inspection or staging costs, then include a transparent contingency for real variability. Compare that true turnover cost with the amount charged to the guest.
Should the cleaning fee equal the cleaner invoice?
Not necessarily. An invoice may exclude laundry, restocking, travel, host inspection time or an occasional re-clean. Use costs that actually arise for that property.
Why does the fee look larger on a short stay?
Most turnover costs occur once per reservation. The same cleaning fee is therefore a larger share of a one-night subtotal than of a seven-night subtotal.
Can Airbnb use a different cleaning fee for short stays?
Airbnb documents a standard cleaning fee and an optional lower short-stay cleaning fee for one- and two-night reservations. Availability and details can change, so verify the setting in your listing.
Does this calculator recommend a local market fee?
No. It deliberately uses your costs and does not invent a city average. Guest expectations and competing listings can still inform how you present the total price.
Does Host Pilot set my Airbnb cleaning fee?
No. Host Pilot can display reviewed fees on a direct-booking website, but Airbnb fee settings remain in Airbnb.
Carry the reviewed fee into the guest-facing price
Host Pilot can display a reviewed cleaning fee with the stay price on a direct-booking website generated from your listing. The host remains responsible for fee settings, taxes and the final total.
